On Wednesday 22nd March, SALIN hosted Take the fear out of networking, a workshop providing advice on social communication for your career.
The event started with a networking bingo session to get everyone out of their seats and into conversations. Two experienced networkers then provided some invaluable advice. The event concluded with a speed-networking activity which gave everyone the chance to practice what they had learned and speak to all other attendees.
We’d like to thank our guest presenters Jennifer Osborn (Research Librarian at the University of Adelaide) and Eleanor Thomas (Acquisitions Coordinator at the University of South Australia). Here’s a summary of their advice:

SALIN and ALIA SA are hosting a social gathering to celebrate the Christmas season and the end of another year for South Australian librarians.
Come along, catch up with colleagues, and make some new friends! Everyone is welcome.

SALIN would like to invite you to the annual South Australian library Quiz Night, supported by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
This long-running institution returns in 2016 with the theme Let’s Get Digital, celebrating the revolution in information technology that took place in the 1980s.
Date: Friday June 17th
Time: 6:30pm for a 7pm start
Place: Goodwood Community Centre (32/34 Rosa St, Goodwood)

Entry is $15 per person, to be paid on the night. Whole tables (8 people) can be purchased in advance for $100, to be paid by funds transfer.

Proceeds will be donated to Can:Do 4Kids, a South Australian charity supporting children who are vision- or hearing-impaired, helping them access digital information of all kinds.
There will be prizes for the 1st, 2nd and 3rd placed table, as well as prizes for best dressed table and individual.
